Dr. Lorenzo Tavelli, DDS, MS, PhD, is a periodontist, clinical researcher, and currently serves as an Associate Professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine—one of the world’s leading academic institutions in dentistry and implantology.
He graduated from the University of Milan (Italy) in 2017, completed his Master of Science at the University of Michigan (USA) in 2020, and previously served as a clinical lecturer in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan.
With over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications, Dr. Tavelli is widely regarded as one of the most influential experts shaping the modern biological approach to peri-implant soft tissue management. His academic excellence has been recognised through multiple prestigious awards, including:

The first day of the course is designed to build a strong biological mindset in soft tissue management—from natural teeth to implants, and from prevention to complication management.
The programme begins with an in-depth session on soft tissue grafting and root coverage for natural teeth, helping participants understand soft tissue response, healing mechanisms, and the principles of long-term tissue stability.

Peri-implant tissue health and peri-implant diseases
Risk and protective factors, including soft tissue phenotype in treatment prognosis
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to implant therapy in the aesthetic zone, covering:
Aesthetic outcomes and stability in immediate implants and anterior implant cases
Management of aesthetic complications and advanced approaches in papilla reconstruction
The day concludes with an advanced discussion session, allowing participants to engage directly with complex clinical cases from their daily practice.
Day 2 – Advanced Hands-on Training: From Biology to Clinical Execution (27 March 2026)
The second day is fully dedicated to hands-on practice, transforming scientific knowledge into immediately applicable clinical skills.
During the morning session, participants will practise on porcine models, focusing on:
Implant placement combined with simultaneous hard and soft tissue grafting
Techniques to modify and enhance peri-implant soft tissue phenotype
In the afternoon, hands-on training continues on resin models, covering:
Management of aesthetic complications around implants
Papilla reconstruction techniques in implant cases
The day concludes with an integrative discussion session, enabling participants to connect biological principles, treatment strategies, and practical skills into a comprehensive clinical approach.
