From March 19–21, 2026, at Equatorial Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City, IM8 successfully hosted the advanced course “Managing Failures in Implant and Soft Tissue Surgery: Advanced Strategies for Specialists,” led by Dr. Ricardo Kern (Brazil), with the participation of 25 clinicians from across Vietnam.
The programme was proudly supported by Straumann Group – a leading global implant brand from Switzerland – reaffirming its commitment to advancing professional excellence within the Vietnamese dental community.
Over the course of three days, the programme fostered a highly engaging academic environment, supported by Dr. Trần Châu Bảo Phúc as teaching assistant and Dr. Nguyễn Minh Quân as interpreter.
In this edition, Dr. Kern focused on a highly practical approach, aiming to build a comprehensive framework of knowledge and clinical skills for managing complications. The curriculum covered the identification and classification of common complications in implant and soft tissue surgery, along with structured diagnostic and decision-making protocols for compromised cases. Advanced techniques for managing implant failures and soft tissue deficiencies were also addressed, alongside preventive and maintenance strategies to optimise long-term treatment outcomes.
The hands-on sessions using porcine models attracted significant interest, with active discussions around real clinical scenarios. These sessions enhanced participants’ ability to translate knowledge into daily practice and strengthened their confidence in managing complex implant cases.
As part of the programme, the Supremo tunnelling surgical kit, developed by Dr. Kern, was also introduced. Signed editions of the kit created a unique highlight and drew strong attention from participants.
Sharing his feedback, Dr. Nguyễn Tiến Đức from MedDental System described the course as highly valuable, noting its well-structured content and strong clinical applicability. He particularly appreciated Dr. Kern’s depth of expertise and clear, accessible teaching style, which enabled participants to effectively absorb and apply the knowledge in practice.
The course concluded with significant academic and practical value, further reinforcing IM8’s role in connecting global expertise and supporting the Vietnamese dental community in advancing treatment quality and sustainable professional growth.
